Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
-
Therapy can help if you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected from yourself—even if you can't pinpoint exactly why. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people start because something just feels "off," and they want support figuring out what's next. If you're curious whether therapy might help, booking a free consultation is a low-pressure way to explore that question.
-
The 15-minute consultation is a chance for us to connect and see if we're a good fit. I'll ask a bit about what's bringing you to therapy, and you can ask me any questions about how I work. There's no pressure to commit—it's simply a conversation to help you decide if this feels right.
-
You can request a free 15-minute consultation and, if we decide it seems like a good fit, we can schedule your first appointment.

Both! I see clients in person at my office in Rye, and via secure video sessions for clients located anywhere in New Hampshire and Maine. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of mixing both options depending on their schedule or preference.

Most clients meet weekly at the very beginning, but over time scale back to biweekly sessions as they feel more grounded. We'll figure out what works best for you together.

I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide a superbill (a detailed receipt with diagnosis and codes) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits, if you have them. I can walk you through how that process works.
-
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots based on financial need. If cost is a barrier, please reach out—I'm committed to making therapy as accessible as possible within my capacity.
What to Expect in Therapy
-
There is no single formula, but most sessions involve talking through what's present for you—what has been on your mind, what is coming up emotionally, what patterns you're noticing. My approach is warm and collaborative, and sessions move at your pace.

Art therapy and sand tray therapy use creative processes—drawing, collage, clay, and arrangement of sand tray figures—as tools for self-exploration and healing. You do not need to be "artistic" or have any particular skill. The goal is not to create something beautiful; it is to access parts of yourself that are sometimes hard to reach through words alone. Creative therapies that use both sides of the brain and body through bilateral movement (ie. using both hands simultaneously) can also help calm the nervous system and aid processing in the brain. Art supplies and sand tray can be used in therapy when it feels helpful, but it is never required.
-
It depends on what you are working through and what your goals are. Some people find relief within a few sessions; others benefit from longer-term work to create deeper, more lasting change. Therapy is not about "fixing" yourself quickly—it is about building strengths and stability within yourself over time. We will check in regularly about how things are going and what feels most supportive.
