Individual Therapy for Adults
You can’t change the past, but you can chart a course for a better future.
You've worked hard, surviving more often than thriving. Perhaps you feel depleted and adrift. I can help you find solid ground.
When I work with adults, I am mindful of the past, the present and the future. Sometimes clients just need a safe place to talk about things that are weighing heavily on their minds and get their bearings.
Others are seeking change. While I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, we usually start by looking at the big picture and assess what is working and what is not. As these factors become more clear, we identify ways to start changing course, usually small and attainable. Thanks to neuroplasticity, every time we do something differently, or even consider the possibility, we are growing our brains and creating new pathways for healthier thoughts and behaviors.
Together, we celebrate your strengths and progress.
Tools Which Can Enhance Growth and Healing
Using a large whiteboard. Most clients I work with have so much on their minds that it’s helpful to have a big space to externalize things and reflect.
Creative approaches like art therapy, and sand tray work use the right (often less-dominant) side of our brain. As a result, breakthroughs in self-awareness and perspective often happen when these approaches are used.
Breathing and body movements can help you feel grounded, stable and regulated.
“Homework”. I use this term loosely because it can be as simple as self-observation and experiments you do between sessions.
Brainstorming to find the strategies and tools that work uniquely for YOU.
